The CROSS meeting took place at MKK (City Library Kranj, Slovenia). 20 participants discussed focusing demographic change and its implication on adult education institutions and libraries as “Third Places”. MKK was chosen as a best practice example with its concept and offers.
In parallel workshops the participants worked intensively on different aspects of demographic challenges and Third Places for seniors. The participants agreed on a minimum set of goals and intentions as well as content and topics. Based on the partners’ experiences of successful – in previous projects/times – methods, tools and media were selected to be part of a future toolbox.
The transnational project CROSS runs from September 2019 to August 2021 with a total of 7 European adult education institutions and libraries (Germany coordinating partner Iserlohn.de, Hungary Nyiregyhaza.hu, Romania bjc.ro, Spain caudete.es, Luxembourg rbs.lu, Slovenia mkk.si, Netherlands stichtingwerkenenleren.nl).
The aim of the project is to investigate the changed framework conditions faced by continuing education institutions and to develop new concepts. It aims at the transnational transfer, development and implementation of innovations in the field of adult education, focusing on the concept of the “third place” as a learning space.
